MERLIN images at 151 and 408 MHz, 1.6 and 5 GHz are presented, which show that the radio structures of the powerful compact steep-spectrum (CSS) sources 3C147 and 295 are very different. The quasar 3C147 has a complex structure at high resolution, and low-frequemncy images reveal a dramatic increase in size and a change in the orientation of the axis of elongation. In contrast, the galaxy 3C295 presents an FRII structure, remarkably like that of Cygnus A, and has no larger scale structure at longer wavelengths. 3C147 and 295 qualitatively exemplify the structures of CSS quasars and galaxies.
