A simple model suggests that the far wings of the profiles of the broad lines from AGNs should have the power law form Delta(lambda exp-2) if they are made by an ensemble of parabolically orbiting clouds. The difference between this and the traditional logarithmic law corresponds to the presence or absence of nonzero angular momentum in the Broad Line Region clouds. This very simple picture suggests a diagnostic from a single line profile distinguishing the presence of infall from pure outflow which should also be present in more realistic models.
