Several methods to measure the solar diameter have been reviewed in this paper, and advantages of using the Chinese photoelectric astrolabe Mark I and Mark II for measuring the solar diameter are pointed out. Two different practical methods for determining the solar diameter are proposed. Both methods can be used for measuring the solar diameter with a precision of 0″1.
