A method of determining isophotal and effective wavelengths in the BV system is described, and averaged values of wavelengths so determined are presented for stars of spectral classes from O9.5 to F8 using absolute spectrophotometry data. An ambiguity in the determination of the isophotal wavelength is shown along with a strong dependence of the value of the isophotal wavelength on the spectral class of the star in the B system; such a dependence cannot be distinguished in the V system. In addition, values of the effective wavelengths for B and V are found to be more stable.
