A method is presented for correcting for small-scale fluctuations of electron density and temperature in the interpretation of the relative intensities of forbidden lines in gaseous nebulae. The influence of several parameters describing the spatial distribution of electron density and temperature on intensity ratios for forbidden lines of O III, N II, Ne III, Ne V, O I, O II, S II, and N I, is investigated.
