A search is made for radio flare events on 15 late-type stars using the Arecibo radio telescope at 430 MHz. About 50 hr of interference-free data are obtained and one impulsive event is detected for the M2 III star Alpha Cet. The observed radio event is consistent with the hypothesis that it originated in a solar-flare-type disturbance in the stellar atmosphere.
