HD 37819 is a new δ Scuti star of 8th magnitude. The new spectral classification is (δ Delphini). Simultaneous photoelectric radial velocities and Geneva-UBV photometry are presented. The period is 0.18916 d. An identification of the oscillation node is made in two different ways:
1. by using the properties of the light and colour variations.
2. by examining the variations in the profile of the correlation function given by the spectrophotometer CORAVEL.
It is found that the oscillation is either a standing wave l = 1, m = 0 with an angle of observation close to i = 20°, or a radial pulsation.
