Sources are added to the field equations of Einstein's unified field theory and a purely electromagnetic model of matter is proposed, in which all the properties of the material sources ultimately depend on one four-current. Examples show that between charged matter built in this way electrodynamic interactions arise only when there is true scope for them, i.e., when the previously mentioned current deviates from geodesic flow.
