We present an analytical model of extended massive current sheet Σ in equilibrium in a 2 D x-invariant constant-α force-free field, and a vertical gravitational field. We show in particular that there is a maximal mass that can be supported by the magnetic field and that the topology of the field lines is always of the "Kippenhahn-Schlüter" type. This model can be used to describe the magnetic support of solar quiescent prominences. This work is an extension of Amari and Aly (1989) in which the simpler approximation of a prominence by a filament was considered.
