We propose a long-term monitoring of the 9.9 GHz class I methanol maser in G331.132-0.24. This source has one of the few 6.7 GHz class II methanol masers which show periodic flares. It is the only known periodic 6.7 GHz maser source which has a 9.9 GHz maser in the near vicinity. A comparison of the light-curves at 6.7 and 9.9 GHz is expected to shed light on the nature of such periodic flares, which still remains a mystery. Based on the fact that these two masers depend on the pumping disturbances in opposite senses, we expect an anti-correlation if the flares are caused by periodic modulations in pumping. In contrast, a correlation is expected if the flares are caused by variations of the continuum emission amplified by the masers.
