UV to radio continuum spectral energy distributions are fundamental tools for studying the physical and evolutionary properties of all extragalactic sources. The Virtual Observatory provides us with a unique tool for easily combining the different sets of photometric and spectroscopic data now made available to the community for several hundreds thousands of objects thanks to various recent wide field surveys. For reasons related to aperture effects, filter response or angular resolution a blind combination of these available multifrequency data sets cannot be done since it would introduce large systematic errors in the determined spectral energy distribution of galaxies, with major consequences in their physical interpretation. We briefly describe the difficulties encountered in combining different sets of photometric and spectroscopic data as available on the net with the aim of producing homogenised data sets suitable for any scientific research.
