The authors present uvbyβ photometry obtained with a CCD for the young open cluster NGC 2362. The distance modulus is V0-Mv= 10.87; the reddening is uniform with AV= 0.300 mag. The authors use a calibration of effective temperatures and bolometric corrections to compare the cluster sequence with theoretical models and derive an age of about 5 Myr. All except the brightest star are on the zero-age main sequence. A search disclosed three short-period variables; one of them may be the hottest known δ Scuti star if it is a cluster member. Unlike other clusters of similar age, the authors did not find any β Cep stars. Neither did they find any slowly pulsating B stars (53 Per variables), contrary to theoretical predictions.
