I present and analyse the color--stellar mass diagram for z_phot < 2 galaxies, using a K-selected catalogue of the Extended Chandra Deep Field South (ECDFS) from the MUltiwavelength Survey by Yale--Chile (MUSYC). The results suggest a long, slow migration of massive galaxies onto the red sequence, occuring over many Gyr: at most 1/5 of all massive galaxies were already on the red sequence at z ˜ 2, and at least 1/2 have only re(joined) the red sequence since z ˜ 1.
