Dust, Absorption, Statistical Approach.

The basis of the statistical approach for determining absorption properties of cosmic dust grains in the Rayleigh domain is investigated. For two ensembles of small particles with different shape distributions, but with the same average form-factor distribution,it is impossible to distinguish these two shape distributions by considering the absorption properties.This provides an argument in favour of the statistical approach.
