The Bisnovaty-Kogan and Zel'dovich (1970) approach to the gravitational clustering of classical particles can be extended to the study of the successive fragmentation for gravitational instability of a Jeans mass of fermions, taking into account the cosmological expansion. The role of collisionless damping is evaluated. This approach naturally leads to a fractal structure of the large scale structure of the Universe between an upper and a lower cut-off, as pointed out by Ruffini, Song and Taraglio (1988).
