A statistical quantity, the K function, is introduced, which is based on the integral of the 2-point correlation function. It has been studied in the field of spatial point processes, where appropriate estimators have been proposed. It is useful to study clustering at large scales, where the correlation function becomes noisy, allowing us thus to check, when applied to deep samples (like, for instance, Stromlo-APM), if homogeneity is reached, which seems to be the case.
