We outline a test of the controversial Lauer & Postman (1994) result with an independently acquired data set, which extends the search for the covergence scale of bulk flows to ~300 Mpc using an x-ray flux-limited sample of ~250 rich Abell clusters from the ROSAT all-sky survey. We describe investigations of the relationship between Brightest Cluster Galaxy (BCG) properties and the x-ray charateristics of their host clusters. We hope to further constrain the scatter the in the BCG absolute magnitude from the current values (~0.25 mag.) in order to promote these objects as a readily identifiable, reliable population of standard candles with which to explore the fundamental dynamical behaviour of the Universe on the largest scales.
