Results will be presented from an ongoing research programme to study
non-stationary disc accretion onto black holes using a time-dependent
Lagrangian computer code and working within the ``slim disc'' approach.
Phenomena considered include limit-cycle behaviour, instabilities at the
sonic point and disco-seismic modes.
