The robustness of the Cepheids' Period-Luminosity relation is discussed from the point of view of stellar-evolution and -pulsation theory. Physical aspects with relevance to pulsation modeling and stability analyses will be emphasized. Proper treatment of these points might affect the results which are used presently for calibration of the observed P-L relation. Therefore, a proper quantitative theoretical understanding of the Cepheid P-L relation can even today be considered as a profitable field of research. Finally, we address the mapping of bolometric luminosities onto photometric pass-bands and the dependence on metallicity of the results.
