Near-IR spectra and magnitudes are presented for two IRAS sources which were previously unidentified. The spectra show them to be extreme carbon stars, closely analagous to the prototypical source IRC + 10216. Estimates are made of their mass-loss rates as functions of the stellar distances, which are unknown. It is suggested that there may be a large number of such extreme carbon stars awaiting identification from the IRAS database.
