The hard X-ray energies probed by NuStar are ideal to identify AGN, especially those which are heavily obscured and are therefore very faint in the softer energies observed by Chandra and XMM-Newton. Therefore, a true census of black hole growth and evolution can only be determined by observations in the hard X-ray band. Currently, there is significant uncertainty in the fraction of highly obscured AGN, and it is unknown if this fraction may be a function of either AGN luminosity or redshift (or both). Here, we present predictions for the AGN number counts in the NuStar energy band assuming different distributions for the fraction of highly obscured objects, as well as models of how this distribution may evolve with AGN luminosity and redshift. We find that deep NuStar observations will be very important in furthering our understanding of the evolution of accreting black holes.
