We present briefly the new LOFAR radiotelescope, which is in a phase both of implementation, as a dutch instrument, and of extension to many european countries, including France. We then introduce the french FLOW scientific consortium, which supports the project of a french participation, starting with the purchase of a LOFAR station to be installed in Nançay. We conclude with future prospects.
