In this study, which is part of the Chandra ACIS Survey of M33 (ChASeM33, Plucinsky et al. 2008), we focus on the diffuse extended X-ray emission from the giant HII-regions NGC604 and IC131. We present the first detailed high resolution (2") X-ray images which unambiguously reveal that the bubbles and cavities in NGC604 and IC131 are filled with hot X-ray emitting gas. The X-ray gas mass in NGC604 amounts to about 1500Msol and is most likely caused by a shocked stellar wind emanating from a very massive O and WR-star population. The absorption corrected X-ray luminosity in the broad (0.35-8.0keV) energy band of LX=1.1x1036 erg/s also supports this picture. First results from a spectroscopic X-ray analysis seem to indicate a similar scenario for IC131, although the O and WR-star number density is significantly lower compared to NGC604. This work was supported by NASA Chandra award number GO6-7073A.
