The results of the laboratory measurements on both the spectral and physical properties of CO:H2O and CO2:H2O ice mixtures are presented. The effects of the composition, the temperature and the thermal history on the H2O (3.1 and 6.0 microns) CO (4.67 microns) and CO2 (4.27 microns) infrared bands are discussed. It is shown that additional information on the composition and on the history of grain mantles can be obtained from a detailed analysis of these absorption bands.
