Over 3000 Ultra Heavy (Z > 65) cosmic ray ions with energies over 3 GeV/n have been recorded in the UHCRE, of which a total of 205 have already been located, measured and positively identified as Ultra Heavy (UH) ions by our group. For this purpose Solid State Nuclear Tracks Detectors were used (mainly Lexan polycarbonate). In order to determine UH abundances near the Earth surface, the Restricted Energy Loss model for track formation combined with the fractional Gradient of the Reduced Etch rate identification method have been applied by means of an appropriate calibration. The charge spectrum obtained shows clearly two abundance peaks which correspond to the Platinum and Lead predicted ones. In order to obtain the source composition of the UH cosmic ray ions, the Weighted Slab Approximation based on the well known Leaky Box Model has been used in this work. The transport equations have been solved taking the spallation cross sections formulae given by Silberberg and Tsao. It has been found that the source composition derived from UHCRE seems to be in agreement with the Solar System abundances.
