Advances in infrared astronomy, made possible by powerful, cryogenically cooled satellite telescopes that provide an unobstructed view of the Universe across the entire infrared spectral regime, now provide insights not only on low-energy phenomena, but give us a glimpse also at what is going on at some of the highest cosmic-ray energies. In this chapter, a number of processes are presented that connect infrared observations to high-energy phenomena. The future undoubtedly holds many more.
