The experimental results from detection of atmospheric neutrinos have suggested a strong anomaly in the ratio of neutrinos of muon and electron flavor. Recent high statistics results of the Super-Kamiokande detector have confirmed the anomaly. The standard interpretation of this result is that muon neutrinos oscillate to neutrinos of different flavor. In these lectures we discuss the formation of the atmospheric neutrino flux and the new experimental results.
