Results of two and three dimensional magnetohydrodynamic simulations of jet formation are presented. It is found that when boundary conditions consistent with flow models of thick accretion discs are used a high temperature region builds up around the central object, accelerating energetic jets from deep within the disc. The outflow is highly collimated along the rotation axis, the axial magnetic field, compressed by inflow of the disc, playing an important part in the collimation process. The formation mechanism is found to be robust, and the jets are stable to MHD instabilities. Scaling laws for the parameters of the model are discussed.
