Results are presented from recent evolutionary calculations which show the third dredge-up to operate in stars with total masses as low as 1 solar mass without invoking any extra mixing such as overshooting. For 1.5-solar-mass models, dredge-up is obtained even for stars of solar metallicity. Many models became C stars of quite low luminosity. The dredge-up law operating in the models is discussed.
