Preliminary results of a spectroscopic study of 13 H-alpha emission line galaxy candidates identified in an objective-prism survey are presented. The fluxes of the strongest lines have been measured in order to establish the responsible mechanism for the ionization, which is in almost all the cases of photoionization by hot stars. The four sample objects which have been also detected by IRAS follow the IR-H-alpha luminosity relationship observed in extragalactic H II regions.
