A general formalism to describe the rich morphology exhibited by jets from extragalactic radio sources is developed. The approach combines different kinematical motions of the jet flow, such as precession of the jet and translational motion of the host galaxy. No special assumptions about the relative orientations of the vector quantities involved are required.
