The relation between solar UV flux and 10.7-cm radio emission has been studied. Both the UV and the radio fluxes can be decomposed to form a basal, non-active component and a component that is due to sunspot activity. While the relation between the full UV and radio fluxes is non-linear, the basal fluxes are linearly related. The 10.7-cm radio emission can therefore be used as a proxy for the UV flux.
