When the comet fragments hit Jupiter in 1994 July, almost everyone was surprised by the conspicuous size and blackness of the impact sites (Journal, 104(5), pp.207-209). Another major surprise has been how long these dark clouds have lasted. The following is an interim report of the Jupiter Section, derived from drawings, transit timings, and CCD images submitted by many members and international collaborators.
