Cosmos-484 data on precipitating particles and constant electric fields in the high-latitude ionosphere are analyzed. Results on variations of the transverse electric field are examined in relation to the averaged pattern of the precipitation of electrons with energies exceeding 30 keV. An investigation of the horizontal component of the constant electric field makes it possible to refine existing models of magnetospheric plasma convection.
