The spectra of T Tauri stars in the 7500-8700 A region dominated by the infrared Ca II triplet in emission, followed by O I and weak lines of Fe I and Fe II, were obtained from 34 A/mm Coude spectrograms and published scanner data of Kuhi (1974). The line-ratio diagrams show that solar flares and plages are optically thick in the K and infrared lines, while quiescent prominences have significant opacity only in K. It is concluded that the differences between the integrated spectra of various T Tauri stars result from differences in the relative areas covered by hot regions and star-to-star variations in the average temperature and density of the hot regions.
