The method of two time scales is used to solve the equation describing the evolution of a density perturbation (i.e., Jeans' instability) in any expanding medium. A surprisingly simple result is obtained which offers insight into the role of such cumulative but contradictory effects as gravitational attraction forces and the expanding velocity field. Although the existence of a critical length is confirmed, no catastrophic growth of instability is found.
