A correlation is shown between intermediate velocity clouds and a relative lack of material at low positive velocities in the south celestial pole region. This correlation can be explained by a supernova shell sweeping the interstellar medium. The counterpart at positive velocities would expand in the halo of the galaxy. The IVC's gas is also correlated in position with high velocity clouds and such correlation would be explained by explosive events with energies higher than 1052 erg.
