The authors confirm by an independent technique, the findings of Acker et al. (1982) that iron-group spectra in FG Sge have weakened markedly, while spectra of barium and the lanthanides are strong. The weakness of the iron-group makes it unlikely that this object will become a Ba II star. A connection with the Population II barium, or CH stars, is rejected. The authors suggest that continued evolution of this spectrum could bring it to resemble that of HD 101065, Przybylski's star.
