With the understanding that the physical reality of stellar rings has not been confirmed (except for the ring in Orion), the parameters of 100 original rings from the Isselstedt list and 88 anonymous rings are studied on the basis of previous experimental data and specially conducted photometric measurements. The contraction distribution, small visible axes, and percentage of O-B5 stars are found to be similar for all the rings, and the luminosity of the brightest stars with rings is shown to depend on the angular diameter, a dependence which is identical for all rings and background regions. This identity is cited as confirmation of the purely optical nature of stellar rings. The percentage of incidence of anonymous rings in spiral arms is found to equal the geometric probability of random incidents (50%), while the original rings of Isselstedt are concentrated toward the arms in 96% of the cases. This unique difference between anonymous and original rings is taken to indicate some sort of omission in the selection of material when the list of rings was compiled by Isselstedt.
