The ultraviolet continuum colors of quasars have been computed attributing the observed redshift variation of the visual quasar colors corrected for the effects of emission lines, to (1) luminosity evolution, (2) a general curvature of spectrum, and (3) reddening due to intergalactic dust. For the dust model, graphite, silicate, and dust which obeys the observed interstellar extinction law have each been considered. The near ultraviolet colors are shown to provide a definite test of whether or not the visual color-redshift variation is due to dust, and if appropriate, a differentiation between the dust models proposed.
