X-rays emitted by compact sources involving neutron stars on black holes would be highly polarized. X-ray polarimetry could yield important evidence on (1) the beaming and radiation mechanism for accreting neutron stars, and (2) the structure of accretion discs around black holes. Interesting information could also be derived from observations of the highly polarized X-rays resulting from scattering by material in the binary system.
