The correlations between the magnitude and direction of the azimuthal component of the interplanetary magnetic field and the variations of the horizontal component are studied on the basis of observations carried out during magnetically quiet periods at a number of observatories in the Northern Hemisphere. The correlation coefficients and their variance are determined for three-hour intervals of universal time.
