The Be star LSI +61degr 303 shows an orbital variation in the ratio of the equivalent width of the blue wing to that of the red wing of the Hα line profile. This variation is shown to be due to the obscuration caused by the post shock gas of a shock produced by the supersonic orbital motion of the secondary through the gas disk of the Be star.
