The author has been carrying out a large number of Monte Carlo simulations of extensive air showers in an attempt to solve the problem of the primary composition between 105 and 108GeV. First results of the calculations are presented and compared with experimental data. From these it is concluded that iron is not the dominating component in the primary energy range between 106 and 107GeV.
