The passbands of the seven-color (UPXYZVS) Vilnius photometric system are situated at nearly optimum wavelengths for the photometric separation and classification of Ap stars. The separation of Ap stars in this system is based on measurements of Balmer-jump depths and the continuum depressions at 4100 and 5200 A. It is shown that the color indices of the Vilnius system can be used to detect Ap stars in both the absence and the presence of interstellar reddening by employing certain reddening-independent parameters or energy curves. The temperature index for Ap stars in the Vilnius system is discussed along with effects of the Balmer jump, effects of line blocking in the 4100-A and 5200-A regions, the separation of reddened Ap stars, photometric classification of Am stars, and effects of stellar brightness variability.
