Observations of Hard and Soft X-rays obtained with experiments on board the SMM and ISEE-3 satellites during the gradual and late phases of large solar flares are compared with meter-wave continua observed with the Nancay radioheliograph. It is concluded that: (1) only a common, continuous/repetitive injection/acceleration of electrons in different coronal structures can account for the observations; and (2) there is no long lasting storage of electrons in the corona. The ultimate part of the radio event is also consistent with a continuous input of electrons but of lower energies.
