The influence of refractive index on the radiative source function is presented for the case of emission from an isothermal, isotropically scattering medium. A closed-form, approximate solution is obtained and results are presented for finite and semi-infinite nonconservative cases. An increase in refractive index causes the source function to increase and that effect is more pronounced at higher scattering albedo and smaller optical depths.
