We present scientific results from SLACS, the Sloan Lenses ACS Survey. Lenses are first identified spectroscopically and then confirmed via two color "snapshot" imaging with Hubble Space Telescope. The ongoing survey has found more than 20 strong lenses to date and is designed to produce a sample of 50 lenses, uniformly distributed in velocity dispersion between 100 and 300 km/s. As a result of the selection procedure most lenses are galaxy-galaxy lenses, with extended features (Einstein Rings), making this sample especially well suited to study the properties of the lensing (early-type) galaxies. We discuss the results in terms of their implication for understanding the formation and evolution of early-type galaxies.
We acknowledge support from NASA through HST grants GO-10174, GO-10-494, GO-10587.
