The feasibility of a cosmic ray actinide abundance measurement by means of tracks in meteorites is discussed in the light of recent studies of high-energy U ion tracks in meteoritic minerals. It is concluded that the main difficulties of such measurements may not be those usually thought of, but rather lie in the etching process itself. Olivine is probably not a favorable detector, and man-made detectors are also not entirely safe.
