The Galactic center obscured M supergiant IRS7, which has been used as a source against which to study interstellar absorption bands near the 3-micron wavelength, has yielded a 3.4-micron absorption band as evidence of an organic component among interstellar grains. A broad absorption trough is now reported between 2.9 and 4.0 microns, with numerous discrete features from 2.9 to 3.6 microns. The possibility of complex organic molecules as the cause of this absorption is considered.
